Rzeszow, Poland
I was born and raised in Rzeszow, a vibrant city in southeastern Poland, known for its historic architecture and its importance as an economic, cultural, and academic center. My parents, both teachers, enriched my youth with their love of art and pursuit of technical skills. My childhood was filled with joy, family, exploration, friendship, bike rides, and nature.
Continuing the family tradition, I attended Rzeszow’s high school of fine arts. My five years there, exploring arts and art history, learning to paint, draw, and sculpt, remain in my memory as an amazing experience. I specialized in traditional methods of metal sculpting and graduated with a diploma in the craft of artistic blacksmithing. Having passed the rigorous exams required to be admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland, I followed my dreams to become an artist.
Krakow, Poland
In Krakow, my real artistic journey began. Studying in the Painting Department, I met talented, extraordinary artists who deepened my development. My long days in the studio painting and drawing were followed by leisurely nights, meeting fellow artists to linger over a beer, laugh, and discuss artistic matters. During my final years at the Academy, I was offered an assistant professorship in the drawing studio. In 1998, I graduated with a master’s degree in Fine Arts and continued to live, teach, and create in Krakow.
Finding inspiration in Krakow’s galleries and museums, I loved and admired Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Velazquez, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso, but the abstract masters were closer to my heart. Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Motherwell, Gerhard Richter, and Anselm Kiefer influenced my work. Vivid colors, abstract shapes and structures, and vigor of expression became the languages I used to capture my senses and imagination.
Along with beloved artists, nature and the surrounding world bring me inspiration. My paintings reflect elements of landscapes and the universe, urban motifs, and animal and sea kingdoms. My work has been recognized with scholarships and awards and selected for solo and group exhibitions.
New York and New Jersey, U.S.A.
In 2000, drawn by the artistic energy and expansiveness of New York City, I moved to the United States. Here my talent and creativity found new forms of expression in the world of graphic design and in photography. While continuing to work as an independent artist, I discovered the fascinating field of carpet and textile design. Working with start-up companies as well as industry leaders, and taking advantage of advances in technology, I learned to translate my passion for color and abstraction into designs for bespoke and commercial rugs and carpets. I enjoy the creativity of designing beautiful, original modern carpets and photographing new products for advertisement, while continuing my independent work as an abstract artist.
